SHAKESPEARE & DISNEY SONG-NET (WEEK 7)
Dear Students,
Congratulations on finishing your final paper! As these took you roughly five weeks to write, it may take Mr. Ruether, Mr. Ulland, and I some time to grade them properly (i.e. we appreciate you being patient as we work through them).
For this week, you will be doing some work with Shakespeare. Though it saddens me that we will not have the opportunity to read Romeo & Juliet together, I thought it was important that you get a small introduction to Shakespeare as his tragedy of Macbeth will be the first major reading you'll have next year in Sophomore LA.
Please read through and do the work in the slides. At a certain point I will note that the slides come with a video portion, so be sure to switch over to the video at that point!
The project you will be doing this week is crafting your own Shakespearean sonnet based on a Disney song (a song-net, if you will!). The song that you choose to base your sonnet off of must come from one of the songs listed in the rubric, but for those of you that like to work with others, here's something for you: you may select up to one partner with whom you will do this project (must be someone that is also one of my students, but it can be someone from a different class if you wish). Of course, if you would prefer to do it solo, then you may do that as well! Regardless of the option you choose, look over the rubric and the example provided below.
Please have your completed song-net submitted to TII by 1455 on 06/10. Note: there is an error in the video that says 2159: ignore that (it's 1455).
